The Community Space lot is a lot where all sorts of great things happen. Sims come together and do great things… if you let them, of course. The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion pack brings all its great gameplay features to other worlds. But getting to grips with them at first can feel a tad overwhelming.

When you try to set up a Community Space lot in other neighbourhoods and worlds outside of Evergreen Harbor, you might see the warning that your lot is incomplete, despite the fact that you’ve added the Community Space of your choice – Maker Space, Community Garden or Marketplace.

If you’re playing with a specific storyline in mind – perhaps you’re cheating the Eco Footprint of the neighbourhood to be green from the get-go – and you’re going to cheat which Neighbourhood Action Plan wins. In that case, you might just want to build whichever space you had in mind for it rather than one for every single one of the possibilities.

Or maybe you’re not cheating at all and you’re just getting your Community Space lot set up in the other worlds.

Whichever way you play, setting up a Community Space lot in the Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle is easy.

You simply have to build the venue as per the requirements for each one of Community Space lots.

Don’t worry if you don’t know what they are – the game will tell you. You can obviously build as fancy as you like with these and there’s no reason all your community lots can’t all have the same features. This is The Sims! You play however you want.

It’s kind of terrifying when you set up a Community Space lot in other worlds for the first time with the Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion pack. When the white “building lot” screen pops up it feels like you’re just replacing your entire lot. Yikes! But that’s not the case.

If you want to make changes to some of the existing Community Space lots that came with Evergreen Harbour, the same idea applies. You’ll have to edit them by selecting the relevant space in the left corner.

There are some really great builds in the gallery already if you don’t want to build a space for every single one. The builds in this quick tutorial are all from the gallery – you can use the filter by lot type to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Problem

Cause

  • There’s a few lots in Windenburg that are special venues and hence can’t be changed. Those are: The ruins, the Von Haunt Estate and the bluffs. This is by design.
  • There’s a bug that turns other lots into special venues. I don’t know what triggers it though. The cause of this has been fixed but there’s still lots on the gallery that can trigger this. Please use the workaround below to fix it.

Solution

You will either need Get to Work or Dine Out for this fix to work.

  1. Start your game and load any family
  2. If a family lives on the affected lot, move the family out (sell furniture)
  3. Travel with at least one Sim to that lot
  4. Write down how much money your family has.
  5. Buy the lot as either retail or as a restaurant.
  6. If you don’t have enough money, use the following cheat from map view: freerealestate on.
  7. Confirm your purchase (buy it furnished if you already have a house on it you want to keep)
  8. This will change the lot type to either restaurant or retail. You still won’t be able to change it.
  9. Sell your business through the map
  10. You are now free to change the lot type again.
  11. Because of buying/selling, your money balance will not be the same anymore. To put it back to the old amount, use the cheat money <amount> (put testingcheats true first).
  12. If you want a family to live there, you can now move them back in.
