Today, there are just over whelming amount of shafts out on the market. It is literally impossible to figure out the similarities and differences of each and everyone to determine the best shaft for your golf game.
I was in need of a new driver and tested many drivers before going with the Ping G20, 9.5 loft with TFC 169D R-Flex shaft, not cut down. I absolutely love this driver and find it very forgiving, especially when I don’t have a great shot, which I still tend to out drive my golf partner on bad shots.
Shafts come in different weights within the model, shafts come in different flexes which often times differ in stiffness depending on the weight of the shaft, two different companies has similar specifications in terms of numbers but play completely differently.
And now combine the shaft raw performance with head design, characteristic, loft and CG with unique swing characteristic of a golfer affecting how a shaft releases (or not release) at time of impact. Fitting is an art form. That’s why fitters not talk about numbers but tries to blend the shaft with the golfer.

The shaft shows comparison of Stiff flexes of each shaft. Aldila Rogue Silver is one of the lowest trajectory shaft and it is one of the reasons that many tour players prefer this shaft. I don’t know why the iron shafts were not individually tested but it gives you an idea of the characteristics of the shafts. Basic theory is lighter shaft tends to fly the ball higher and as the shaft gets heavier, usually the trajectory goes lower. One unique exception is the Modus Tour 130 which is a heavy shaft with higher trajectory. The most important thing is to make sure you get the right weight to optimize tempo.
